Born out of a shared distaste for societal conventions, unnecessary chords, and literature, Witch Coast has been seducing DC’s occult underbelly with quick and dirty lo-fi pop earworms since 2014. The lean three-piece—featuring Messrs. Jon Weiss, Kevin Sottek and Jordan Sanders—has built a reputation in person and online for their no-nonsense approach to recording (“No Overdubs, No Masters”) and rowdy shows with international touring bands as diverse as Iceage, Porches, OBN IIIs, Bueno, Sitcom, and New Madrid. The Washington City Paper heralded their first EP, Witch Coast for President, as one of the best DC albums of 2014, despite sounding like it was “…possibly recorded on the auditory equivalent of a potato.” Hell yeah. Gearing up for the release of their debut LP, Burnt Out By 3PM out this month on Babe City Records, Witch Coast is poised to step on everything you love, in the best way. Catch them around the East Coast this fall, and stay witchy.
“It’s 2015 and in a time when the means to record music at a decent production level are more accessible than ever, why do people still pursue this sort of lo-fi sensibility?’ On their debut cassette Burnt Out By 3PM, D.C noise punk outfit Witch Coast churn out a turned-up, greasy, and above all, up-front answer to this question.” — IMPOSE Magazine
“Witch Coasts carves a hole into your soul with each song, drifting further into this gooey lo-fi sludge rock, penetrating their deep, wrought emotions into your very being.” — Unrecorded.mu
“We aren’t really signing any bands right now guys but the tape is really good & the tape player was an ill ass move.” — Sacred Bones
